I Give A Buck! aims to set the standard for the way Australian children’s charities operate financially with some key points of differentiation:
We really work hard at reducing our overheads, or administration costs, by:
- using suppliers who provide their products or services to us free of charge
- operating from a series of home offices rather than paying for office space
We also work hard to find businesses that will ‘sponsor’ our remaining, unavoidable, overheads (like insurances and telephone bills etc.)
That means that we are able to guarantee that 100% of a donation made to any appeal goes straight to that appeal – and therefore to the child concerned.
We run individual appeals for each child that we help. Each appeal raises a specific amount of money to pay for a specific product or service that will relieve the suffering of a specific child. That way, every donor knows exactly how their donation was spent and how they helped to change the life of a real child.
For every single appeal we try to harness the power of the local community to allow them to make a real difference in the lives of the severely disadvantaged children within their local communities. We actively enlist the support of the child’s local schools, media and PharmaSave pharmacy.
We ask donors for just $1 – a buck – using a little from many to change kids’ lives.
In essence, we tell the story and the community does the rest.
